Most of the time we think before we act. Our thinking is responsible for analyzing, discerning, and deciding what we will or will not do. Our thinking truly has the power to change our actions.
We all need a sparring partner. Someone we can check our ideas with, someone who can give us friendly advice without judging and making fun of us, don’t we?
If we are lucky we have such a person around us, but very often this person has not sufficient experience and skills to deliver all the answers we need.
Normally in our life we would need to have multiple friends with different experiences and knowledge to be around us wherever and whenever we need them… But this is not very easy to achieve.
Therefore I developed my own “special friends super force” team.
I will show you how to become a friend with Winston Churchill and how to convince Abraham Lincoln to become your sparring partner! Isn’t that something! I hope you are excited about this perspective.
Internet is a very powerful tool. One thing I love about Internet is the ability to search through it for whatever I need.
Someone wise once said that if you will search you will find… This is how I discovered a way to talk with people I need, wherever and whenever I need them. I also found out that after a while we become special friends.
How does it work? Very simple.
Let’s say that I am wondering why something does not work for me. I am going to my friends and ask them the following question:
Guys, I am trying to get this thing working for me and all I get is frustration instead of the expected results. Do you know what am I doing wrong?
Jim Rohn begins with: “You can cut a tree with a hammer but it will take 30 days…”
Jim, do you mean that I might have the wrong skills or wrong tools?
Abraham Lincoln is saying to me: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
You mean Abraham that I may not be correctly prepared? I got you!
Winston Churchill adds: “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference…”
Easy to say Winston, you should try to have a good attitude, after five attempts and no results. I am working so hard on it!
Jim Rohn interrupts: “Don’t mistake movement for achievement. It’s easy to get faked out by being busy. The question is: Busy doing what?”
Right Gents! So I need to check if my skills and tools are right, get better prepared, straighten my attitude and make a better plan for my actions! Thank you for this great advice!
Another example. I come broken down from a business meeting. I feel rotten as some people were trying to pull me down. You know, if it takes long enough you start to believe them…
So I go to my friends and ask: can I really do it? Am I the right person for this job?
Les Brown smiles and says: man “don’t let someone else’s opinion of you become your reality!”.
Zig Ziglar interrupts with his specific accent and smile: you know that “far too many people have no idea of what they can do because all they have been told is what they can’t do.”
Goethe looks at me and says: ”Everything is hard, before it is easy”…
“Yes, yes, yes”, says Henry Ford, “when everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it”…
Then Les Brown ends with: “You have something special, you have greatness within you!”
Thanks to my friends and their wisdom my attitude rises up and I am ready to face another day.
These are just some examples that are helping me with my questions and doubts. I am sure you got the idea.
What is beautiful about this method is that you can use it completely for free! All you need to have is your question ready, some free time and Internet. When you will use it regularly you will find the positive impact it has on your life… And after a while you will select a group of your own special friends who can help you whenever and wherever you need it.
