The Spring dreams…

Spring is a very special season. It is the season of new opportunities, new energy, new life! It is also the season of sowing and preparing for reaching to our dreams and goals! In the Spring my dreams and goals are waking up, are revitalizing. I see more chances and more ways to get there than I have seen in the Winter that just passed.

I like this Spring energy! I like that the days are getting longer, temperature is getting higher and everything in the Nature starts a new life cycle. Flowers and trees are waking up, everything is  more active and searching for the opportunities to expand. There is so much activities and energy in the Spring. The new opportunities present themselves and the new dreams and goals are being born or existing one are being energized. Continue reading

Dreams and Goals

When your dreams and goals do not excite you, when your dreams and goals do not make you stand up early and stay up late, when your dreams and goals are not making of you different, better person… You do not have dreams and goals, you have just planned a day to work on somebodies else dreams and goals!

Holidays and life…

I don’t know how it is where you are right now, but in Europe we are starting the holiday’s season.

I love going on holidays. Holidays are for me like a major reward for my hard work. Yes, I do work hard, and although I am traveling a lot for my work, holidays are something else. Of course I like to visit new places, meet new people, taste new food and enjoy different cultures. But the most important for me is the fact that I have much more time with my family. Normally we are all preoccupied with our daily activities. Work, school, household, shopping… During the holidays we can focus much more on each other.

The second major plus of holidays is that I have time for myself. Holidays are for me the most important evaluation time. Time when I look back on the last year.

Jim Rohn once said that “most of the people spend more time planning their holidays than their lives”.

Isn’t it interesting? Spending more time planning holidays not your own life…

It was also Jim Rohn who said that “If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what someone else has planned for you?

Yes, you are right. Not much!

Therefore I would like to invite you to use the holidays not only to rest and to reload, to discover and to enjoy, but also to reflect on our lives. When we are out of the daily rush and daily activities it is the perfect time to evaluate if our life plan works well for us.

We could come to the conclusion that we need to design a new plan or adjust the existing one!

Take an evening and write down what is really important and valuable to you. What makes you happy? What makes you stand up early and stay up late with the feeling “yes, this is good”? Discuss it with your partner, with your children. Asked what is really important and valuable to them?

Examine your goals. Is your reason still strong and powerful enough to take you through the difficulties while pursuing your goals?

Think a bit about your attitude. Are you happy with the way you feel about the past, about the future, about other people and the most important: about yourself?

Make a reality check of the activities you performed to get where you are now. Have you worked on the right projects? Do you have the right skills, right tools? Will all you did up till now bring you where you want to be?

Take some time and look at people you spend most of your time with. People that have the biggest influence on you. Do they make you smile, make you happy? Are you growing by being with them? Are you learning new skills? Are you becoming better? Do you have the right people around to do the things that are actually bringing you closer to where you want to be?

Look objectively at your results. Are you making measurable progress in reasonable time?

No matter what the answers are, you will collect sufficient material to create a new plan or adjust the existing one!

Les Brown once said “You cannot expect to achieve new goals or move beyond your present circumstances unless you change.”

Therefore resolve to make good changes and plan your life around all that is really important and valuable to you.

Motivation by results

Lately I am working on starting some new businesses. Traveling, meeting new people, trying to understand new business models, checking the chances and considering risks.

Now when I am busy with all those exiting activities I have to think of the words spoken by my father in law. He used to say that when you have a drawer full of contracts, money in the bank and an agenda full of meetings with prospects, you can survive any crisis.

What are the lessons my father in law was trying to teach me? I think the lessons are about:

  • Rendering a good service
  • Being prepare for an opposition
  • Being persistent in getting new customers.

You can’t have a drawer full of contracts if you are not able to render better service than your competition.

You can’t have money in the bank if you spend more than you earn! It is amazing how often people do not understand this simple principle and spend more than they have!

Then when the opposition comes, and it will come sooner or later, they are not ready for it and can be beaten down!

You can’t have an agenda full of meetings with prospects if you do not do your prospecting on a daily basis.

It is very easy to get sucked into activities that are urgent for someone else but not important at all for the goal you are trying to reach!

Another very important value of these lessons is that it gives you clear goals for your business.

Goals that are easy to visualize!

Can you see the power in visualizing a drawer filled with contracts, a bank account full of money and an agenda full of meetings? I certainly do!

Now all you need to do is to decide how many and how big the contracts are, how much money you want to have in the bank and what kind of prospects you want to meet!

When you do that, you are ready to go for it!

When you will really go for it, I can promise you, you will reach this place! And when you do, you will not need to worry about one aspect – motivation! You will be motivated by the results!

I wish you plenty of good changes that will help you to get where you want to be!

The power of dreams

I was 14 years old, living in the beautiful city of Gdansk in less than beautiful circumstances. Poland was ruled by communistic power. Some of you might be familiar with these circumstances, for some of you this might be difficult to comprehend. One of the things was that we did not have a lot of freedom and we certainly did not have the freedom to travel abroad.

In these circumstances dreaming was quite important and dreaming about traveling was very important to me. I wanted to know what the other countries looked like, how the people lived, what were their dreams, what was important to them?

Back then the best way to get some information was to read books. As travel books where not censored it was my favorite thing to read. Especially books about sailing. I could see myself sailing across the ocean, visiting interesting harbors in exotic countries.

My dreams were so real, so intense that one day I asked myself: what do I need to do to make it happen? What do I need to do to sail and visit these countries?

Little did I know that in my head I had set myself a goal and resolved to make it happen. From this moment on I was almost obsessed with the idea of me sailing across the ocean.

And yes, miracles do happen. A little more than year passed and I was leaving for my first sailing adventure around Iceland…

My daughter loves to sing. She started singing before she could walk. A few years ago she said that her dream is to sing in the role of Beauty from Beauty and the Beast.

First she could not find any production for 14-year-old so in the age of 15 she decided to write her own musical. She wrote all the text and all the music as she did not want it to be the same as the Walt Disney production. With her enthusiasm she assembled a team of players and helpers. After one year the musical was ready to be performed and was quite a success.

The most important point though is, that just after this, in the age of 16 she decided to go for an audition of the real Walt Disney production and got her dream role…

I am sure that if you will ask around, you can find lots of similar situations where dreams became reality or as Napoleon Hill said where “thoughts, backed by strong desire, have a tendency to transmute themselves into their physical equivalent”.

How the power and magic of dreams works? There are plenty of books written on this subject, but for me the most important are the following ingredients:

  1. A dream that is so vivid that you can see the vision of it already happening
  2. A strong believe that it is possible
  3. Faith that it is possible for me
  4. A “never give up” attitude
  5. Activities, activities, activities…

If these ingredients are present the Universal Energy starts to play its magic and power. The right people are crossing your way, the right circumstances are being created. You receive help from people you do not even know and slowly but surely you become a person who deserves to have the dream come true. You see, life does not respond to need, life responses to deserve!

You may ask, if this is so simple why do we not all live our dreams? The answer is also simple. What is simple to do is equally simple not to do. Or putting it differently: it does not necessarily have to be easy.

Fears, negative relations, life destruction’s, bad habits and other dream killers will try to make one of the 5 points weaker and disturb you on your way.

Unfortunately these dream killers very often succeed, unless you are aware and you adjust your course frequently.

When you will do this, and you will act with believe, with faith, with the right attitude the dreams will become your reality as it happened and still is happening to many, many people!

Why planning is necessary?

Planning is quite interesting process.

You have clear vision where you want to be. You put all the actions, times, dependencies and resources to get there. You start with enthusiasm and what you will find out is…

that something works just not the way you planed! You need to improvise, change and adjust.

So what is the plan good for one may ask?
I think there are 3 main reason why planning is necessary:

  • You decide where and when you want to be (clear goal)
  • You make it clear that you can get there (faith).
  • Points 3 and 2 give you necessary push to start! (motivation)

With motivation, faith and clear goal you will find inspiration to improvise, change and adjust!
